TPMS worth keeping?
When changing to wider rims and taller tires is it worth the trouble to reuse the stock TPMS sensors, replace them with new ones or not use them at all. I guess a chip programmer could disable the beeps, the creeps and the sweeps?
Typically larger tires will be run at different PSI than stock.
TPMS was introduced because of all the people who fail to maintain their vehicles. If you keep check on your tires on a regular basis then disabling the TPMS with a programmer is the way to go.
Purchasing a ProCal is usually cheaper then having the sensors swapped over and rebuilt.

I swapped my stock sensors over when I went to33s on 16" steelies. Had no problems with them (did not go for rebild kit) but I don't do any serious wheeling (trails, mud and sand mostly). I had read that they can b a problem when aired down very low for rock crawling, but don't know for sure.
This would be my first reason not to use a shop when they start telling me they cant do stuff I am paying them to do. I would consider that lucky that it didnt cost you a ton of money to figure out that they suck.
I just had new wheels and tires installed. The tire shop would not install without reintalling the TPMS in the new wheels, it is a fedrel law if vehicle has them they have to reinstall the TPMS. One way around this is to have them mount the tires on the wheels, and you mount them on the vehicle. this way the tire shop is not liable.

Just check your tires with a decent gauge every once in a while. You're gonna run bigger tires at lower psi which will cause the light to come on anyways. Plus with all the airing down an up we as Jeepers do it seems like a waste of money to pay for tpms. Youll get used to the light, I don't even notice it now.
Just regulary check your own tire pressure and get a procal and set the system to 0 psi.
