Default Traction Control cutting throttle

I was driving on wet/snowy roads yesterday and was having issues with the traction control.

Traveling completely straight, on just wet roads in 4WD the traction control kept cutting throttle for a split second....probably about 30-40 times within a few miles. After a while the large traction control light came on, meaning the system faulted and turned off. After about 3 miles the light went out again and the intermittent cut started up again.

It did not do it in 2WD, and my steering wheel is perfectly straight. I definitely was not losing traction as I tried it on dry roads today and got the same issue ( driving straight of course).

Any ideas? I'm lost...

How many miles on Jeep? Did you try manually turning off ESP? If so, short press or long press, and what was result? You may have a wheel sensor or unit bearing going out, sending faulty info to the computer. Dealer has tools that allow deeper analysis of the wheel sensors than typical code readers.

Thanks for the input Mark!

Just under 20k miles

Using the button does stop the problem as expect.

And that's what I was thinking, I just like getting some input from people more experienced such as yourself. I'm assuming I may have stretched/broke/cooked something while installing my recent lift and axle truss.

Well...off to the dealer to get told that all warranties are voided and I killed a wheel sensor haha

Thanks again!

Before going to dealer you might visually inspect the four wheel sensors and their wiring. That lift may have exposed something to mechanical damage you can spot. It is common. If you find broken/crushed wire, you can repair yourself. There is nothing special about the wire or length (within reason).

Yeah if you didn't disconnect the sensor wire when installing the lift then you probably over extended it. Should be able to fix that yourself.

That's a good plan, thanks!

I did disconnect it when pulling the axle. Maybe just the clip came loose.

Pretty sure I found the issue.

The brackets that guide the wire over the axleshaft u-joint(under the upper ball joint) were bent down on both sides. This cause the wire to rub on the ujoint and wore through the insulation, exposing the wire. Sooo i'm guessing whenever that exposed wire grounded itself on the ujoint it shorted and sent a false signal.

I'm just going to let it dry(since we have a few dry days here finally) incase any water got pulled up into the wire , and throw some liquid tape or RTV over the exposed wire. Hopefully this was the issue!!
Woot!

Thanks again for all the help guys
