I have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler automatic. I purchased new tire and front breaks and wish I had a stick shift. I am considering my options. Is it doable to have the transmission converted from automatic to manual drive? If yes, has anyone ever had this done and what can I expect to pay at a transmission shop? I want to make sure it is done correctly it I do decide to do it..

 

You need to consider that your computer is calibrated for an automatic. There will be transmission sensors on your wiring harness that will have nothing to plug into. This will cause a check engine light for sure, and perhaps forcing you into limp home mode. Mechanical aspects can all be handled. You will need a new PCM and a dealership to marry the PCM to the vehicle. All doable, but at what cost?

 

Id be down for the swap. I'm looking to have an auto trans.

 

do a search, it just isn't worth the time and $$. Trade it for a stick.
