Does the frt TC output flange in the frt have any at all type of play in it? I mean mynute play. I can spin it freely, but there is a very tiny amount of play that I can move up and down if I try hard. Probably 1/64 or smaller.
I'll be checking with mine on this time around...will be ripping the front axel out to regear in a few days though, could let you know how mine is without ds on then....
I have the 3" BD lift and also question the integrety of our bearings with the angles we're running

That's the reason I decided to replace my front DS with the trail spare. The spare was brand new and my DS accordian boot was torn by the skid plate.
So I got the DS off and I grabbed the front output flange of the t-case to check for play and sure enough, it had about the smallest amount, maybe .015" on the flange face, up and down. I figured that is the source of the rattling. Put the new front DS (trail spare) on and low and behold, no more rattling on the fwy. I'm assuming the old DS was pretty battled up from hitting the skid plate and it too had a little bending slop. I bought that trial spare on ebay about a year ago for $50 or so. Shoulda replaced it a long time ago.
In answer to your question, yes, mine has a little slop.
I also took the plasma cutter to the skid plate and made a big cutout to clear the driveshaft when the axle flexes down.
I was under my JK on Thursday night changing my front DS from the original to a replacement stocker that I bought as a trail spare. The reason I was changing it was that I had an ultra annoying rattling sound coming from the t-case. It would start rattling (like a bag of rocks on top of a skid plate) around 45 mph and get progressively louder. Going down a straight highway it would be rattling then I'd shift the t-case into 4x4 and it would go away until I let off the gas. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the t-case under warrenty. I didn't really expect them to warrenty it, but they did. Anyway the sound came back within a day or so. Depressing.

The ones for the je reel shaft are not long enough for the stocker, gonna pick one up tomorrow at the dealer and put the stocker back on and see what happens.
