Funniest thread I've read all week!

If anyone does any reading on the Internet or (GASP!) talking to people who've used Treadwrights's products, you'd be hard pressed to find negative comments.

But, you know, they kill California seals, kids, and I even heard condors! This is despite the fact that they're legal on everything short of the steers (that means "front") of a bus in certain states.

And those road 'gators you see on the road? They're as likely to be new, virgin, tires, as retreads! Yeah! Can you imagine? There have actually been studies done! Wow! If you plop 80,000 pounds on an underinflated tire, retread or brand new, it's going to come apart! Who'd'a' thunk it?!

I'll keep DD'ing mine. Rode 'em over to the Badlands in Indiana yesterday, wheeled on 'em, and came back. Probably will still have them on my Jeep next summer when I drive to CO and Utah, unless I put different Treadwright's on it.

to the idiots that a knocking these tires with out ever using them is bullshit these are great tires these arent shitty semi retreads there are guys in my club that beat the shit out of these tires on trails and have never had a problem with them one guy in my club drove from ny to tenn which is an 18 hour drive there and back at 75 on the highway with no problems i have never heard of one person that had a negative comment about them besides the idiots who have never used them maybe you should use it before you write comments about things do you do movie reviews without watching movies too for the money you pay there is no better tire on the road

yeah but did you read the warranty? its like they have all these reasons NOT to stand behind it

So don't buy 'em. Read and interpret what their lawyers wrote rather than what we and everybody who uses them says. Everything I've ever heard, in addition to my own experience, has been that they go out of their way to take care of their customers.

I have a set that I now have 20,000 miles on. Moab, Colorado. Montana, winter-summer highway, freeway, rocks, ice, snow , mud... not one bit of problem. Pulled a 3,000 pound trailer 600 miles as well...

The weight and heat issues with semi-trucks as stated already create a lot of problems with new and retread tires. Uninflation-friction=heat= by by tire. Imagine how little weight our Jk's put on truck rated tires!

The shop that balances them is amazed how well they have done. I've rotated them 4 times and balanced them twice (once when I put them on). I go down to 17-15 psi every time I wheel and they have done great. I run them at 32psi on the road...

I bought them (33's) because eventually I knew I'd be going up to 35's and I figured they would hold on for a couple years... well- they may last longer... still more then 3/4 tread on them and two years is not far away!

BFG KO sidewalls and goodyear MTR tread pattern... been a great tire.... no regrets and I will really have to look at their 35's when they come out next month!

I think on their scale it should be around 140 bucks for a siewall of your choice, and the Goodyear MT tread design.

Got a set of the BFG AT Treadwrights on by big, heavy pig of a Ram 1500 QC. Great tire, great price, wear great. I have towed heavy, went through sticky black mud at the local garbage dump, pulling heavy trailer, drive the highways and biways of Indiana, an i will be putting a set of the MT's on my unlimited as soon as i need them. Great tire and I actually feel a little better knowing i did a little something for the enviroment, especiall since none of my vehicles gets over 20 mpg!! hehe

I find it ammusing that someone can sit here say you seen others run them but tell us dont knock them till we tried them Personally I have more common sense than just to write a tire off just because its a retread. Im not going to but any product without researching it, knowing it warranty, and its reviews.
these tire have great reviews ... I never said thay didnt.

I was just looking Tread.Wrights up online yesterday and was thinking of asking questions on the forum. If people stand behind them, I can pull the trigger on a set of these soon. I'm nearly on the tread indicators

If you are considering retreads, here are some thoughts:

LT/Passenger Radial tires are not designed to be retreaded/caped like semi truck tires. It's tough to know what condition or abuse the tires casing has gone through in it's life. Heat, mileage, and moisture are just a FEW (and I stress few) variables that affect a tires casing. The typical limited warranty on retread tires is 25K miles and covers manufacture and material defects on the re-tread process only and will not cover the casing of the tire in any way. It's also important to remember that the entire casing of a tire is held together by the bead wires. If the previous casings have been run on with low pressure (more heat generated) or were mounted on an unapproved rim width (pinched or stretched which generates heat) the casing has been compromised which can ultimately lead to failure. Heat is a tires worst enemy! The only component on the vehicle that makes contact with the road, which is responsible for saving your life every day, regardless of the weather, 365 days a year, is your tires.
