Treadwright Tires
we can run studs from oct to apr I believe. I'm thinking I'll get the grip. I haven't run studs for any vehicles I have own didn't see the need for them when we get some ice but not enough to have studs.
Got mine from FedEx today. Took them to get mounted up, and they'll be ready tomorrow. I'll post pics when I get them and when I mount them to the Jeep. I'm going stock Rubicon wheels and spacers. Decided I like that clean look.
You got yours today? I placed my order on the 5th and it was confirmed on the 6th and I haven't heard anything yet. Did they notify you when they shipped?
Ordered mine 8/1. I did get shipping notification on 8/9. Delivered yesterday. I was quoted a wait time of 3-4 weeks!
They have roughly 15,000 miles on them with a total mix of highway, city, and offroad miles. Besides the sharp rocks at Hollister, they've also seen the smooth rounded granite of the Rubicon and surrounding trails, as well as miles and miles of desert 2-track. I'm not easy on my tires, but you can see how even the treadwear is, with no cupping or feathering. Of course the leading edges of the treadblocks that spin against the rocks get chewed up, but there's been no major chunking.
If you look closely, you'll see the pits that are left behind in the treadblocks after the glass and walnut shell particles come out. It's hard to tell in these pics, but you can also always see freshly-exposed glass and walnut particles still embedded in the tire, which act like miniature snow studs in the ice. I'll tell you, these tires fully get it in snow and ice. The Kedge Grip is not a gimmick - it makes an immediately noticeable difference compared to non-studded tires.
Based on my past usage, I'd say these are easily a 40,000-mile tire. But I replace my tires before they're fully bald, so I could probably extend it to 45,000 or 50,000 miles if I was super-cheap.
Unless a better tire comes out on the market, I plan to purchase another set of these. I absolutely love these Guard Dogs.
Here are my new ones mounted up. Absolutely no complaints from Firestone who balanced them. I can't stand to wait, but I'm going to put them on the Jeep Friday when I've got time. That's about 44 hours and 15 minutes away, but who's counting?
Nice! I just got my shipping notice. Unfortunately, I won't get my spacers until next weekend, so they won't be mounted up as soon as I would like. Let us know how they sound on the road compared to the factory tires.
