Default Trektop NX

I really want to get the Trektop NX for my JKU in the spring, but i'm wondering how hard it is to completely remove the top and reinstall it. I assume removing/reinstalling the rear windows is fairly quick and simple, but what about the bikini top? I love to drive open air whenever possible, but really like the look of the trektops on the JKUs over the factory style top.

I was just wondering the same thing....
Is it something you can just take on and off within like 10 or 15 min when it rains.

Well I have a 2d with NX. It comes off very quickly...5-10min but takes longer to get back on because it fits so tight. I'll probably be down to 20min after I do it a few more times but that won't happen till spring. Love the huge sunroof feature for a quick open air feeling when I don't want to take it all the way down.

Anyone with a JKU have an experience with this? I just dont want to be stuck with a top that takes 30+minutes to put back on every time.

I have one for my jku and love it. Now taking it all the way off will take a little time. Especially if your removing door surrounds, bows for front & rear & screws in front. However if your leaving all the hardware on and just removing windows and top, should only take about 15-20 min. I've never done it so that just a guess. It only took me an hour to put the whole thing on after removing the hardtop. Hope this helps.

I have the nx for my 2dr and ive got the time down to about 5 minutes to put all the windows back on there is a particular procedure to make this very easy. As far as the whole top it comes off quick enough but i only took it off to put my hardtop on for winter. Have not reinstalled yet but except for the hardware it should be quick enough. There is no easy way to carry this top in a 2dr and also anyone have any ideas about storing the side windows in a 2dr? Not to jack this thread but they are such a pain since u cant roll them up.

I just ordered mine and it is sitting in the garage waiting for the spring. I've found a common theme on these boards is the Trektop is close to the same as a factory top in terms of time to put on and drop, but the Trektop tailgate clips and bar are very difficult to work. The work around that has been stated is to order a factory bar and clips, which I did (adds $100, but still cheaper than factory soft tops). I'm all in on it, so I hope it works! To me, the look of the Trektop is worth it!

The Bestop Trektop directions state you should install the top in 75 degree or warmer weather. I'd like to share that this is very important. The top fits super well, but in the colder weather, it won't stretch and you are at a very high risk for tearing the seams (which we did.)

Leave it in the sun, let it warm up before you install it for the first time.

Thankfully Besttop has great customer service and replaced it since it was within 2 days of purchase.

We had torrential rains in the past week in Texas and this top is leak free, and doesn't seem to be much louder than the factory hard top.

This is what I did. 8" PVC pipe with end caps. I cut it to fit right behind my rear seat on top of the fender-well (I have a 4dr). Roll up your rear window in a bed sheet and slide it in. For the side windows take the white plastic guard that goes over the roll bar then roll up your side windows and slide them. Follow with the white plastic guards. Drill a few holes in the PVC to let moisture out(before you put windows in of course). I painted my with bed-liner to match. Cheap mod. Just my .02

I installed my NX inside my (heated) garage over the weekend. I second the guy who said to wait for a warm day before attempting to install. The instructions state that 72F is recommended, however I think it should be at least 85F and with as much access to direct sunlight as possible.

If you want to remove the top completely, it's slightly more involved than the stock top. There's the two bows you'll have to remove and stow, then there's the matter of storing the top section of the top. I'd imagine that it may fit where the stock top bunches up, but you may have to get creative when trying to mount it to the roll bars back there.

I do have a question for those who used an OEM rear window bar and clips. How do you clip on the plastic tabs underneath? I cant seem to get the tab from the top to go over the tab from the window.
