trektop windshield knob solution
Hey all,
I'm posting a quick forum to help some people out there that are having any trouble with their trektop. Everyone I talk to at any jeep meet is always like "nice trektop...i returned mine after the knobc proved to be a piece of shit."
I will admit that the first 2-3 months I had the top I struggled every damn night trying to have someone help me stretch the top out and get the knobs put on. I ended up stripping the bolt to shit and blaming bestop for a bad design.
Heres a couple of tricks that have me putting my trektop back on within 5 minutes or less!
1) open all your doors and unvelcro the door surrounds.
2) unsnap the back flaps (window)
3) this is a lot easier when the back window is either out or the bar is unsnapped.
4) pull the soft top toward the front as it has probably fallen back while driving with it rolled back (obviously not for the newer nx ones)
5) this is the TRICK. you have to slide the long metal part that is attached to your trektop UNDER the top piece of the door surround(that fastens the things you eventually have to screw into). This is going to make the top of your trektop slightly dip downward..making it at the correct angle to be able to screw in the knobs.
if you hav any questions or need pics let me know! i know how it feels to be struggling with a top you love so much.
