Default Trimming Fender Liners

I have seen this question asked several times on JK-Forum, but have not seen a detailed answer. So, I thought I would start a thread dedicated to this topic.

There are numerous threads on trimming (or chopping) the stock JK fenders, and there is even a Project-JK write-up. What I would like to know is -- how is everyone trimming their fender liners? Also, with the chopped fenders, how are you mounting the liners? I am specifically interested in the front, but feel free to also discuss the rear, if desired.

I realize that one option is to not install the liners, and this is my current setup. However, I would like to change this in an effort to keep the engine compartment cleaner, as well as to give the front wheel wells a more finished look.

Pictures would be great, if you have them. Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem, i drilled a hole in the liner and the body. Connected it with an L bracket and christmas tree. Used small bolt n nut to connect the bracket to to the liner. First 2 pics show how its connected. 3rd pic is after i bed lined the inner body so it matches. I left he rear liners out and painted the wheel well with bedliner. Think that was your question? Hope it helps

Ummm. It's not really a fender mod, it's more like a fender removal. I took my front fenders off, painted that area gloss black, cut inner fenders flush with the body, and added carriage bolts for a bead look. Here is what the finished product looks like...

Edit- I know the rear fenders make it look weird cause they are sun-faded. If I got some aftermarket tube flares in the back it would look wayyyy better.

Looks good Bullfrog! How did you attach the front inner liners? Got any close up pics?

Ok I have pics. What I did was take off fenders and remove the inner fender from the outer fender and used the one that covers the motor. Then placed that inner fender in wheel well by hand and notice the two stock bolt up hole locations right under the tab area (I used a bigger washer on those). Then I put that long weird looking black bolt in and tightened it in. I proceeded to use a pen and run a line down the edge of the body to mark were to cut the excess fender sticking out. Next I put 1/4 carriage bolts in the old holes that the plastic rivets went in for a bold finished look, then cut the inner fenders to size. There is one hole in the very front of the inner fender that I put a bolt in to hold it solid from the wind. Last I had to used a self tapping screw on the bottom by the pinch seam to keep it from flopping around. Piece of cake.
