Tru trac in rear
I'm lucky enough to be gifted a true trac for the rear 44 that came off a friends jk that went to full front and rear lockers.
It came off a jk 4 door with 373's.
I have a 2 door jk with 373's
I'm seeing what you guys think the going rate would be to have this installed?
Kinda want to get a idea, so I don't get hosed.

I actually had a true trac installed in my front and rear diffs. You can actually install it yourself in a garage, it's easy. My guy installed it in a couple of hours. Buy that friend a good bottle of wine or a case of beer, it's an excellent gift.
Are you sure you're talking about a truetrac and not a lunchbox locker? This is a full case limited slip, the gears need to be set up again. For the majority of us, it's not a DIY project.
The cost should be about the same as the labor for a gear install, since it is similar work. Just depends on the labor rate at your specific shop. Some areas are a lot cheaper than others, and some are a whole lot more. (Base the cost comparison off of other shops in 'your' area, don't compare to what people in other states are paying...)

For ease of instal I would mount your current 3.73 ring gear on the TruTrac carrier so you don't have to change the pinion as well. Pinion and ring gears are a matched set. You will still require new carrier side bearings and shims to set it up.
However ... This may be an opportunity to do a regear.

I have front and rear Trutrac's and work great for me! That said, you also have to drill out rear D44 trutrac ring gear bolt holes! I had 4wheelparts in Charlotte do mine and they sent off because they did not have drill bit hard enough to get it done! I think it was $600 per axle labor.

The gear install includes all the work related to the pinion too which in this case it won't, it is about 30% of the labor as you need to remove the driveshaft, remove and reinstall the pinion and the parts related including the crush washer which won't be part of this potential TrueTrac installation.
Never referenced any prices. As the OP requested, I'm just giving him a real idea of the labor involved for a 3.73 TrueTrac install without swapping gears which is exactly what I had done to my Jeep and was there watching from the turn of the first bolt until the end.
no truth Similar install... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2Aa_GYngAI Not saying he will install it himself but giving him an idea of the labor involved so he doensn't get hosed (his words)

Seeing that the OP is concerned about the money he will spend on the install, a regear would add buying new gears, potentially getting rid of the TrueTrac he got for FREE because it has already been drilled to accomodate 3.73 gears, removing the rear pinion, installing the new pinion with the respective kit and crush washers then doing the same thing for the front differential will only add thousands to the original intent...

OP, if you were closer to Hickory NC I would point you to facebook.com/metalwerxdesign/ He did my front and rear TrueTracs plust Artec trussing both diffs. He is a true Jeeper and has very reasonable prices.
