Default truck bed liner mod?

OK....So today I had a four hour drive with the doors off in on and off hardcore thunderstorms (couldn't see 30 feet in front of me)....I loved the looks on peoples faces as i passed them with the doors off and a towel drying the inside of my windshield haha....But, right now, I am trying to think of better options than inches of water sitting under my carpet...(I removed the drain plugs but still some moisture sticking around...I was thinking about using some of that spray on truck bed liner and just rip all of the carpeting out, use the truck bed liner on the floors for protection and no longer be worried about mildew smelling seats... Anyone have any experience with this or know why I should NOT do it?? (I would leave drain plugs un-touched)

I just thought this may be a good solution to getting inside of car wet, while leaving floor protected

At least a couple of people here have done it. Search for "herculiner", "Rhino", "linex" and you should find some pics.
