That most aftermarket shocks are all made by the same companys? I was told by an off road shop that companies can call up said manufacturer and order shocks in their choice of style, color, etc, with their brand on them.

If this is the case, then wouldn't only a few of the companies shocks be better; and all others that order theirs from these manufacturers all be the same no matter what the company claims?

Thats the way it is with lots other things (namely consumer electronics like televisions). Two or three of the big names (LG, Hitachi, etc) actually build their own stuff and then also sell private label versions of their components for others (like Vizio) to sell as their own.

I could see some of the big names making their own, and then a few overseas manufactures white labelings a majority of the 2nd tier brands' shocks.
