when a manufacturer say a tire is 34.4 inches tall what has been your experience on how tall it actually is once it is on the jeep. I m putting 315 70 17 kelly safari tsr. and would like to know if anyone else is running these or if not how tall are your 315 70 17s and what brand

 

They're that tall not on the Jeep. Once on the Jeep, they compress at the bottom a little. In terms of clearance, assume what it is off the Jeep as the radius everywhere except the bottom will be the same.

 

My 315 x 70 x 17 were listed at 34.4 and on my Jeep they are exactly 33.75. The Metric sizing is about 1/2" less unless you could find a 325 x 75 x 17 which would be right at 35". You almost have to buy a Metric 37" tire to end up with 35" on the ground. THings seemed a lot simpler when all the sizes were listed the same like 12.50 x 35 x 17.

 

Exact same results here with 315/70/17 Duratracs.
