Default TrueTrack: Front vs. Rear

(2009 JKU, Automatic, 3.73’s w/ Procomp 33’s, D30F, D44R, Traction Control) Thinking of installing one TT. Should I go with front or rear?

Rear...no need in front if the rear isn't already equipped IMO.

Depends on your future plans. If you are only getting one traction device, ever, then my vote is for the rear.

If you have no plans of upgrading the front to a 44 or 60, and you think that you will eventually put a full locker in the rear, then it goes up front. (I like the TT for these front 30's much more than having a full locker up there).

But, since you can get two of these for the price of a single selectable locker, why not do both ends?

Rear. In the front, you are more likely to have a tire in the air where a limited slip is of limited value. A real locker does much better in situations where a tire has zero traction. I put an Aussie locker in my front for this reason. My rear is still open until I figure out whether to run a selectable or redo everything and go to 37's.

Having a locked front does allow you to climb a lot better, but there are times where 3 wheel drive doesn't cut it and I wish I had the rear locked.

Will the factory Traction Control still function with a rear TT?

Yep. All of the user reports I have seen indicate that traction control helps provide torque transfer to get the truetrac 'locked up', or whatever the correct term is. Used to be you would add a little brake pressure to help lock it up, now the traction control steps in to help out.

A quick search should bring up plenty of threads on the truetrac.

I would probably put it in the front. Looks like you have a 2009 Auto with pretty tall gears. In the back it is going to make a bunch of noise. In the front you wont even know it is there under normal driving. For things like driving in snow, beach, mud it will work real nice. For heavy rock crawling it wont be the best setup, but then again if you were heavy rock crawling you wouldnt be asking this question in the first place.

The truetrac makes no noise. I have front and rear. Great traction.

Same here, running them on both ends, no noise, great traction, the traction control will work just fine with them and even helps with the dreaded wheel in the air issue that you hear so much about.
