Ive heard the same, but we cleaned the inner axles very well and the tubes. We installed them when it was about 30 degrees out if that helped at all. We used a race bearing driver and a 10 pound mallet. Took about 20 Minutes a side to hammer them in. They slid in about 8 inches then took about 6 good hammers to get them flush.

Not that I've ever heard of. Really, if you just start with a clean tube, your axle is not bent already, and you have extra help (hands) then you'll have a good experience. I think that some of the horror stories we hear on this site can make some people fearful of the install.

Id change the differential oil after as well. hammering them in can push alot of stuff into there especially if its not cleaned out very well.

Had sleeves and gussets done with the axle in. Packed my nitro sleeves with 30 lbs of dry ice in a cooler--they were frozen solid, and went in relatively easily with a a few whacks with a BFH.

how are people here saying you need to remove the axle for gussets and sleeves? assume they haven't done them. By no means is it neccessary to remove the axle I'm running Synergy C gussets, and Nitro sleeves, installed somewhat painlessly with the axle well in place.

I agree no need to remove the axle.

I think they can all be installed with the axle in the Jeep, but if you are doing a truss I would pull the axle off the Jeep.
I installed the Nitro sleeves with the axle installed. A few months later I pulled the axle to instal the Gussets/Truss. Pulling the axle isn't really all that complicated, and welding/grinding/painting on the bench is so much easier. I did the Artec Front and Rear truss which required a lot of welding, couldn't imagine doing it on the Jeep.
