Default The truth about sway bars

I just installed a 2.5" BB and it was suggested that I get longer sway bars for the rear and discos for the front. I have no complaint about my current ride, but I am always looking for ways to improve it. My question is why would longer sway bars make my Jeep ride better? My plan is to eventually get longer shocks, to get rid of the shock extentions I am running, adjustable track bar and rear track relocation bracket, steering stabilizer, and maybe spacers. I know that this is not necessary, I just like to tinker with it. BTW, I have a 2010 unlimited, manual, if that matters. Thanks for any comments or advice.

I think the idea is to keep the sway bar as close to level as possible. If the sway bar "flips" it could case some damage to other suspension components. The quick disconnects up front are more of a convenience for wheeling. Instead of spending 10-15minutes with wrenches to disconnect, you just pull some pins and you're good to go. I'm pretty sure that's right, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong

Is that your Jeep in your avatar? I like the color, I was originally going to get a dark blue Jeep.

You have to get longer sway bar LINKS. Now, that you have a higher rig, you have to set the right sway bar angle. If you do not fix it, it can couse death wobble, dont ask me how I know...
The angle is -5 to 5 degrees, where 0 is an horizontal line.

Yes, that is my Jeep. Thanks, I like the color also. How did yours drive when you got the 285's? That's on my list.

It drove great. It took a few miles to get them broken in though. The terrible roads around here, especially in DC, give the wider tires a lot to grab onto, so that took some getting used to. They have made a huge difference off road too
