Question Tuffy 2011 Security Console Insert

Anyone get this yet? If so what do you think? Seems like a great deal for $99.

It's a fairly new item so some folks might not have finished their installs yet. You can also ask our dealers about the recently released 2011 Rear Half Security Console! Part #274-01. This will also work with the factory USB, 115V, and 12V plug.

I have the older version in my '07 JK. It is a super product and adds a lot of piece of mind when storing things.

Thanks. Also what kind of drill should be used for the added security step in the instructions? Seems like a tight squeeze.

That's true...if you don't have an exxxtra long bit, I would wonder if you can use something like a Dremel - if the chuck can accept the bit. Air tool would work too.

BTT.... anyone have this yet? I need one to store my gun when parked, that way I can lock the doors, console lid, and Tuffy insert!

Also, does the additional bolts/drilling go through metal or plastic? How much more secure is it with the extra bolts in it?

I got it and it proved its worth within a few days when some a-hole broke for the second time within two weeks. Put the soft top on and 5 days later someone decided they needed the 75 cents that I left in the console. Since I have to park on the street, I immediately got the Tuffy and used the "extra" security bolt option. (Does help as you would now have to rip the entire console out to remove the box.). Mr. a-hole came back a few days later and despite his best efforts to pry the lock box open, he failed miserably. Only results are a broken power outlet and scratches on the lid.

Needless to say, I decided to not temp fate further and put the hard top back on. Hopefully, I will someday have a bigger garage so I can go topless again. (Other option would be to supplement the Tuffy with a Rotweiler chained to the rollbar.)

I have installed this withe the 2 security bolts. Very easy install. The security bolts are drilled through the plastic but it would take a lot of work to get the insert out. Then they would have to try and break the lock. I now leave the factory console lid unlocked. I'm very happy with it. Only issue I have is that I must not have it lined up correctly as my USB thumb drive doesn't fit but again that is probably just an alignment issue. I'm happy with it and the Tuffy Glove Box and feel that things are very safe stored in them.
