Default Tuffy Overhead Console Owners - READ ME!

First, let me start by saying that I love my Tuffy Console. However, there is a problem, not so much with the console, but with the jeep wearing the console.

I have had mine in for less than 1 yea, and I noticed the other day that is was very lose. As I got into it I discovered the front of the console where it attaches to the windshield was lose.

When I pulled the console out I was rather upset at what I saw. The factory rivets were stretching and the loop itself was lose and flopping around. Even the windshield frame itself had been stretched around the rivets.

So, problem, the jeep cannot handle the weight of the console over time. Please also note, that I wheel the h*ll out of my jeep. She has done a number of difficult trails. My guess, a daily driver may not have the problem.

My solution was to beat the thing back into place with a hammer and a center punch, cover it in silicone, and take some .125 steel strapping and some extra screws to reinforce it and try to spread the load. I am not sure how long this will last in all honesty. But, next plan is the get the welder out.
