Default Twin ARB Compressor Problem

Anyone having problems with their twin ARB melting the 2 white plastic plugs where the two compressors plug onto the harness. Sorry I don't have any pics. It's the two plugs that each compressor plugs into the "system". Both have melted some. One compressor is not working. The inline fuse was blown. I replaced it and still nothing. I can tell the wires were hot because there are two wires per compressor and each set were slightly melted together aslo. However the plug for each compressor have melted. The male part of the plug is melted. The outside (female) part is fine, so nothing else caused this issue. Has to be the two compressors drawing more amps than what the wires and plugs can handle. Will be calling tomorrow to see what kind of warranty they have and to see if I can get some help.

Anyone else have this issue?

Yep. Power plug on my single melted. Soldered together and heat shrinked. Problem solved for now.

Are we talking the same small compressor I have under my hood used only for my front and rear lockers? Or a bigger version also used for tires etc? Thanks

I have the twin setup. Sounds like you are talking about a single like the guy in the post above.

Called ARB. Sending the compressor to them. They said they will either fix or replace. So far so good.

Good luck.... search the web you'll find others have this problem. Whether its the single or the twin it doesn't matter. Remember the twin is just two singles piped together. Anyway, I had the same problem on mine, had it replaced by the ARB boneheads and one of my plugs just melted again. It seems they manufacture the units with plugs that don't match the amp draw. From have read the plugs are rated at 20 amp which is completely idiotic since the fuses are 30 amp!! Anyway, most people cut the white plugs out and replace them with plugs that are rated to handle 50 AMP which is what I am going to do now. The only people that don't have this problem appear to be those who don't use the compressor a lot. Myself, I am constantly filling tires or running air tools.

Sorry to hear about this. Undersized connectors is bogus engineering, and it wouldn't have taken much to make it correct in the first place.

Please post the results of contacting ARB.
