Default Type of welding for axle truss & C-gussets?

Can someone tell me what type of metal the diff housing on the dana 30 is made of. Can the truss kits, and C-gussets that are mild steel be mig welded?
Thanks!

the pumpkin is cast iron. Its best to mig weld the truss, but you need to pre and post heat the cast housing so the iron doesnt crack. The Inner C's are actually cast steel so there is no need for pre/post heating.

One the reasons in not doing the truss. If not done properly it can actually give your axle weak spots.

So go with the C-gussets, and weld-in tubes. I don't do a lot of heavy wheeling but, I do want to run 35's and be confident
Thanks!
