Default Undercoating?

Looking to undercoat the underside of my jeep, we all know rust is a killer to our jeep. Brand new 13 and I wanna protect it. Any info on this? Brand? Opinions? Anything.

Looking back at the heyday of undercoating, ('60s and '70s), it never seemed to stop the rust. It often appeared to exacerbate the problem.

Fast forwarding to more modern times, I've never had a rust problem on any of my new vehicles since the late '80s, (no undercoating beyond whatever they had from the factory).
I had my '88 XJ for 14 years, and am at 12 years with my 2001 VW Golf. I don't see much rust under my 5 year old JK.

This is because of the galvanizing that has been occurring since the 80's. If someone scrapes the underside of their rig they will still have to deal with rust issues.

Its best to check every once and a while and paint the areas that are affected as you need to.

Try www.fluid-film.com]Fluid FilmŽ | Corrosion Preventative, Lubricant and Rust Inhibitor[/url]. I have great results with it. Spray it on your undercarriage once or twice a year and you're good. I have not had any rust where it's been sprayed and kept up.

Easy solution. Don't do any hard wheeling in the winter. We went to rausch that weekend when we had single digit temps and I've chasing major rust ever since

This or Mike Sanders grease. I don´t know if you have this in the US. Fluid Film ist easier to use but needs to be done more often.
We do this very often in germany as we have have very cold damp weather and a lot of salt on the streets druing winter time.
It seems to work very well. I used it on my old ZJ and even it already had rust in box sections and so it seemed it stopped for the 2 years I had him and used fluid film.
I directly used fluid film on my new JK. Sprayed complete undercarriage, axles, supsnesion and most box sections.
I will renew it this summer and do all box sections including doors etc.

But with axles and suspension I´ll do it different this time. fluid film was to easily washed off there.

Every oil change I look underneath and wire brush off any rust. Then just spray it with some black rust covering spray paint. It also helped to do it right off the lot, there was a lot of bare metal spots on my brand new JK. Thd driveshafts are a lost cause. They were rusty before I got it home.

I do mine a couple times a year with the rubberized stuff in a spray can. Winters in NY can be harsh on the metal.
