Post unit bearing noise

I have a noise i think it is the front wheel bearing. I dont have it when im driving straight but when i turn slightly left or right i get a vibation on the floorboard and a wawawawa. It also seems to not be as bad at higher speeds. The front u joint have a little play in them and the caps and clips seem to be in place. Is the play normal in the ujoint?

Play? Explain how you see play in them. If the joint and caps have visible gap and movement, they're about to go. Not uncommon for the front stockers cause there's no way to grease them and they dry out, prolly why your noticing it when turning. Your unit bearing would squeal all the time if it was going.

There should be no play in the u-joint.
If you have play, it could be the source of the noise.
What you describe is also a symptom of a bad wheel bearing, so it could be either one.

when I rotate the drive shaft back and forth i can feel the inner shaft move a little before the stubshaft moves and there is a little noise when this happens. this is on both sides. I have another d30 with the shafts in it and i tried the same thing on it and there was also play but not as bad and that axle only had 20000 miles on it when i took it off.

I'd pull the shafts and examine every thing, it give you a chance to put new joints in too. Provided you have already checked your brake components and eliminated it down to the shaft, bearings, ujoint. It's pretty easy to pull it out.

that being said you wouldnt happen to know what size ujoint the super 30 kit for the d30 takes. Is it the same as the OEM joint. I measured the caps and they seem to be the same diameter. im not sure who makes the 30 kit I bought this axle already built used.

Just take it out and bring it to a parts store, they should be able to match it up.
