Upper Bracket Rear Shock Mount
Just a quick note to those out there who have not yet noticed the extra-ordinarlary weak upper-bracket rear shock mount on their JK.
On my way into work this morning I heard a ratteling that I initionally thought was the sound of my MagLite vibrating against the bare metel interior of my Jeep. It turned out to be the sound of my right rear shock dragging along the asfault. Dismayed as I was in finding this I crawled under the Jeep to check out the damage, It was the actual mount that had been sheared. This mounting bolt/thingy is quite pathetic. Had I installed the lift on my jeep originally I would have seen this and know to replace it with a beefier mounting bracket. Unfortunatly I didn't and I have now paid the price. To replace the part from the dealer it costs about $1.25, thats right a buck, from the dealer! That should just go to show you how crappy this piece is. In comparison, the plastic body screws from the dealer cost $5 each. So a word to the wise, upgrade you upper-bracket rear shock mount.
