Default Used Suspension Kit Question

Might sounds stupid but I'm thinking of getting a used AEV suspension kit (brackets and dual rate springs) and installing it on my 2013 JKU. My thoughts are that a used suspension is asking for trouble, any thoughts on this, prior successes or nightmares from using pre-owned kit?

I have the aev kit and love it. If you think about it we all have used lifts. I wouldn't hesitate as long as the parts look good and not abused. Make sure to get a good price too. One suggestion is to add a grade 8 hardware kit. It will save you lots of money and future problems.

There's really nothing to go bad. Shocks depending on milage. Does it include the geo brackets ?

True, guess you guys are right, the springs look like new (all still silvery-grey paint) no shocks in the kit. Has the brackets, looks like some minor surface rust or dirt where the bolts were.

Good tip on the G8 bolts, I'll make sure to upgrade that. I'll prob go w/OME shocks or maybe Bilstein 5100s, but I've heard mixed reviews about the 5100s, too rough etc.

If you go with the 5100. Source the shocks that come with the kit.

Cool, I was thinking OME would be better, any thoughts on the two?

The aev shocks are custom valved to match the springs. I would get them if you can. They are bilstein 5100's. I have no complaints on them. The ride is a lot better than stock.

There's a guy on the forums who installed the AEV 2.5" and Rancho 9000's. Sold the 5100's brand new.

Cool, saw the aev forum mention about the ranch shocks. Think I'll try the bilstein setup if I pull the trigger on the aev lift.
