Value Priced Winch Poll -- Which would you choose
Here is the situation you have $700 max, to spend on a winch. Which of the following choices would you pick for your 4 door JK. Specifically trying to exclude the Warn M8000 which would be a great choice for a bit more.
1. Warn Tabor 9K
2. Smittybilt XRC 8 or XRC 10
3. Mile Marker (which model?)
4. Rugged Ridge 8500 or 10500
5. Other
Please talk about your choice. Thanks for your input.

smittybilt...you can buy from 4wd and get a lifetime for $30. 8k or 10k of pull power is the same no matter what the brand. People who swear by Warn, have a just cause bc not too long ago Warn did produce a much superior product. Nowadays, I cant justify the price difference. Get an XRC8 for 300 and spend 400 on some other mods.
I believe, the Warn M8000 would be the best bet for the budget - I'd discussed this with David at Northridge a short while back and for about $550.00 shipped, it's not a bad deal. Add a snatchblock to that and you're still under the $700.00 budget.
Here soon, that's the one I'm going with just as soon as I get a few other things handled.

You can get a Warn M8000 for about $530-$550 shipped.
You can get a Superwinch 09034 EPi9.0 for about $550 shipped.
I would buy either of these before the ones you listed.
I can't stand slow winches. If you get into a situation where you need to winch 4 or 5 people over or through an obstacle, you will wish you had spent an extra $100-$200 to get a Warn or a Superwinch.
I run the Warn M8000 on my JK and the Superwinch EPi9.0 with a synthetic winch line on our TJ trail rig. Both have worked flawlessly and have fast line speeds.

for around $700 i bought the smittybilt winch and a smittybilt rockcrawler bumper with winch mount built in and had enough left over to buy a set of cheap hella 500's from walmart. i dont do enough wheeling to justify getting the best and i am pleased with my choice.
I got the smitty xrc 8 comp with the synthetic line just because I really wanted synthetic, and didn't want to get cable and pay 200+ down the road for the line. Liked the m8000 a lot, would have prefered that with a synth line, but just wasn't in my budget for the ammount of winching I expect to do. I'm happy with it though, if it craps out, then ill go str8 to warn, but I'm in school, I gotta pay for books and rent

Wow I should have checked with David at Northridge before posting the poll, I thought I had his prices memorized. If I had realized the M8000 was available in this price range, rightly or wrongly, I would not have looked at other brands. Still I am interested in everyones input so please keep voting.
Thanks,
Thanks,
I see alot of ppl are voting for the smittybuilt and not the rugged ridge. They are the exat same winch made by the same company. Looks like the frewheel switch is on a differn spomon the rr winch.
