Default Viper throttle body...problems

Installed the Viper Throttle Body today and holy hell, it was as if the Jeep was going to implode! Whistling from idle on up. Engine puking and sputtering all over its self from 2,000 rpm up. What did I do wrong or what do I need to fix this?

Sounds like u forgot the seal/gasket to the intake/throttlebody mounting point. Also, did u disconnect battery before swapping the parts?

Forgot the battery until old parts off, disconnected before new parts installed. Thinking the gasket may be the problem. It fell out when I took the Viper off, so can't be sure. Will look at it again tonight. Had to go back to stock as I needed a useable Jeep to get to work.

Yes, its on and working. It may have been the gasket, but I really think I didn't tighten the bolts enough for a good seal. They only need to be torqued to about 8 or 8.5 lbs, so I was being cautious. Not really sure I can tell a difference...

Are you getting better performance with the stock box? I've not got any whistling.

Do you have a Hypertech Max Energy Programmer? They have a tune setting for the throttle body....

Let us know how it works out with the SC. There were some old posts about some JKs having a lean condition (causing some pinging) running that combo...
