Default Volant Intake

Anyone used the volant yet? What about on other vehicles? It is more expensive but I think it might protect the filter better and might do a better job of bringing in more cool air than other designs.

Default Volant

I am considering this kit. I have had Volant of my last two vehicles and was great. Wonder if they will make a snorkle kit for ours. Gunna wait to see if they do before getting the cold air.

I heard that they will have a snorkle kit, I think I saw it on 4wd.com but I am not sure if they are shipping either part yet.

I think I like the quality of the volant better than the aem and airraid. Just don't have experience with any of them. The extra 50 seems worth it if it really is better.

i had a volant on my last vehicle (05 tahoe) and it was great. they don't add any annoying whistles or whines, and it actually improved performance and mileage. i'm waiting to read some reviews before i get one on my jk though.

my brother had a Volant on his 4 Ram 1500 Hemi. I know he said he noticed a slight MPG increase (like 2) but never said much about power. It definitly got louder under full load (accel up a hill) and its a complete box with inlet for air

i'm waiting on a snorkel kit as well. I dont like the idea of an open-element filter assembly in my environment. i tend to get the front end wet from time to time. the snorkel on my ZJ saved me an engine once. but i had to fab up an airbox cause its a Nissan snorkel....

its not really open. Now the more i think about it... the Volant on my brothers Ram was almost the same at the stock set up. The pipe between the box and the TB was almost the same path, just a few bends and curves changed for flow and the box of the Volant sat i the same place as the stock one, just a bigger box, bigger filter and the inlet for air was a little bigger but it was pulling air from the fender well... probably not to great when off roading

Pulling air from the fender well would be cooler than the air in the engine compartment.

I am still curious how it will be with the JK. It gets really hot in the engine compartment. It would be nice to suck air from anywhere else. I have even thought of insulating the air tube, although not too sure how much or if it would help.

It does looks like a better construction. Does some one knows about performance on the three air intakes; AEM, Airraid and Volant?

I haven't seen any actual dyno charts of them but I would still think it would be about the same for each one.
