So the question I have is on a CAI isn't the real advantage the fact is the cold air comes into the engine. We use to modify the stock box on our racing quads many years ago and just create an open hole in the stock box. I forget how to do this but it's really easy to create a water trap for moisture, I'll look up the Honda 400 I use to own to see if would work on the stock box.

Also how does this make it louder?

I Like True-Flow's XDI design better.

I can see water getting in to that really easy.. Does it have a hole in the bottom for water to drain out? If not I'd put one in it!

The airflow is not restricted as much and it creats some noise by the mere fact it's more freeflowing as the engine demands, more responsive tto. I'd say any CAI would be pretty similar in actual performance.

I built one myself for my 06 Rubi from Autozone, with a charged filter, bigger ductwork, yada yada, only thing I didn't get around to was building a water box which you have to have. My first puddle dip water fording at speed splashed some on the filter and it didn't like the water injection . I'm still debating a snorkel or a good CAI.

Volant hasn't put out a snorkel yet, but if it's like the TJ kit, the CAI is required for the Snorkel, meaning you get both in one. Not sure if it's easy to switch back and forth. Of course, it costs as much as a CAI and a snorkel too.
