Default Wade wind deflector/Trektop combo

Just an FYI, I installed a Wade Windshield Deflector that goes above the windshield. Supposed to reduce wind noice around the header. Works great with top down (off), however with top up and windows down, it creates some kind of weird wind effect thats caused some pretty violent flapping and noise.

I read some success stories regarding these deflectors combined with factory soft tops, but I'm not sure anyone had tried it with a TrekTop. Not a good combination in my opinion.

Interstingly enough, it worked great when the windows were rolled up- it really reduced the header wind noise. Roll the windows down (even crack them), and the top nearly flaps itself loose. Possibly the Trektops lack of frame may lend to the problem.

Shipping it back tomorow.

Speaking of the Trektop, I just got off the phone with Bestop and they are apparently redesigning the WHOLE top. I called because I have been waiting on a warranty replacement for over a month and wanted to find out what the hold up was. The following represents what they told me was being redesigned on the Trektop.

1. Redesign the windshield header and attachment. Apparently, there were not alot of fans when it comes to how hard it is to push and screw in the header knob to attach the header.
2. Fixed the leaky seam on the 4 door that goes over the soundbar.
3. Added some door flaps that is supposed to fix door leaks although I never had that issue.
4. Added the tailgate bar as part of the package. Don't need to buy it separately any longer. They also made it sound like they redesigned the rear window so that it fits correctly with the tailgate bar and does not have the "bunch up" that some complained about.

That's what I got out of it so far so if you have the old style Trektop, you may want to call and see if you qualify for the redesign and get on the waiting list. They did say that some of these redesigns have been shipped out, but these were for people who have been waiting since early March. They estimate mid July for mine, but we'll see if how that turns out since they originally said early June.
