Hello all, recently purchased a 2010 Sahara with 6 inch lift and 37inch tires. At higher speeds ( around 50 mph) it starts to walk. Not when I hit a bump, it’ll just walk out of no where on a straight flat road. I’ve checked all joints to make sure everything was tight. Im pretty sure it’s using a drop pitman arm. Could that be the issue? Should I put a factory arm back on and install a flip track bar?
it’s been aligned
thoughts?
6" lift and 37" tires seems like a mismatched mallcrawler. Driveline angles at that lift rate are going to kill driveshafts quickly. Try to get it down to 3.5" lift as that works with 37s. There is a sticky posted by Dirtman about 37" and larger tires on the Modified JK section that may help. Not sure what is causing the flighty steering but I would take the dampers off and go for a ride. But you need should go to a single damper setup anyway. And yes, drop the pitman back to stock and sort out TB and DL angles which should be the same. Flip works but you need to ensure you have enough clearance under the chassis vs DL hitting the bottom of the chassis at fuller flex angles. Not sure what you mean by "walk". All Jeeps will walk if you don't constantly steer them. That is what solid front axles do but work great offroad.

thank you, he was building it to rock crawl, that was just going to be a toy and this was as far as he got before he bought another new jeep. I’ll go look for that thread you suggested now.
that’s what I’m thinking, I guess it’s going to have to be a trade off unless I go aftermarket axles or drop it back down some.
Reducing lift would be good. There is no good reason to have a 6" lift on a JK or JKU. Also having adjustable control arms or geometry correction brackets will help with caster correction.
Have you had it in for an alignment? If not, it might be a good idea to do so and post the sheet here.

it has adjustable control arms, he had it aligned and then put the steering stabilizers on afterward to try to help some. It’s not too bad but it’s not great either.
ill have a local reputable shop take a look when I take it in for c gussets and trusses.
