Default Warn M8000 install?

Two questions:

1. Is there a write up on installing the Warn M8000?

2. Can the solenoid get wet (during water crossings)? If not, then is there a good place to mount the solenoid to keep it dry but accesible?

I'm %90 positive I won't have any problems installing the Warn but i would really like some ideas for the solenoid location and running the wiring.

The type of bumper you're going to run will probably dictate where you put the solenoid box.

Sorry about the not-so-good picture. Cell phone in the garage after the install, ya' know.

custom bumper... large hoop with fog lights style....

non recessed winch, mounting in under the hoop with room to mount the solenoid above the winch.

You can see it in my Avatar or pics

I had my solenoid box mounted on the winch for a long time with lots of water and mud and had no issues. I have later moved it under the hood. That was on the TJ.
I am right now doing the same on the JK. Never was a fan of the box in the front. Installed some inside the cab winch controls so I don't have to plug the remote but I will run a plug only next to the winch if I need the hand held controls.

Easy install, follow the instructions. Make sure all the cables are away from moving parts or sharp edges.

I think I might also go for under the hood.... I might even be able to fit the control wire through the firewall hole.

thanks gentlemen.

BVHANTA,
to move it under the hood what other cables did you need besides the ones the winch came with? I have the M8000 and love it. I'd like to put the selinoid under the hood..
Thanks

So i mounted the solenoid in front of the battery. I had to buy 3 4 guage battery wires to reach the winch but the install was easy and clean.

I ran the remote through the firewall so its always hooked up. It sits under my seat now with the wire run under the floor mat.
