Default Warn M8000 verses Warn VR8000

What are your thoughts . The VR series is cheaper but what else is different. No load line speed ? Warranty ? Pull rate under load ? I have the M8000 and love it. Works great with no problems . I need a new one and I am leaning to the VR series. Maybe a 12000.

Default Vr8000

I wish someone had a thought on this... I was wondering the same thing, at the same time. Well - I have a VR8000 sitting on my garage floor that is about to get installed. Big line speed differences... 12v only vs 12/24v ... not a whole lot else that concerned me. Since I have it for peace of mind, and just in case, I was more happy saving 600$ that I could put to another mod.

Honestly, I'm not TOO sure, but I think I've heard from someone that the vr models have parts that are made in China and aren't as durable...that's why they're cheaper...not sure though. someone else will probably chime in with a more accurate response.

Well that sux a box of rox. I didn't know that... I put it on today and can say it was VERY poor quality. I had to take the control box apart, replace the bolts and hope it holds... dang. Well time will tell.

How is it that you saved $600? If you go to Northridge4x4.com right now, they are the same price. I just ordered an M8000 from Northridge a few weeks ago. No taxes, free shipping, $80 rebate from Warn = $449 shipped to my door. But, when I ordered mine a few weeks ago, the VR8000 was $399 after rebate, so it was $50 more for a M8000. Now, they are the same price.

If you search for M8000 on here or Google, you'll see lots of people with great reviews. IMO, M8000 has been out longer for more people to bang on, and is more proven. I haven't installed or used mine yet, but after seeing all the reviews, I'm not worried. VR8000 is new, most people aren't sure where it's made, how it performs, and line speed is twice as slow. I can't figure out why Warn has 2 winches that are 8,000 lbs winches that close in price point.

I compared the wrong model... didn't compare the M8... totally my screw up... yup..
Hurts to be dumb... I usually go Quadratec -- Didn't check Northridge -- they are 675 and all the shipping expense. Pays to shop around too. The VR was 399, like you said.

Oh, I understand. I used to shop Quadratec only. But, my wife has rubbed off on me, in more ways than one!! LOL. After watching her shop for clothes and toys online, I've learned a few things that work for shopping for Jeep parts online. No extreme couponing here. Just spending a little time researching reviews and prices before pulling the trigger.

Lesson learned. I'm hoping it won't bite me later... Gonna test it out after I get some more coffee in me... Thanks!

I got the M8000 from northridge. I love it. I've used it a few times already. I was told the VR is their entry level setup and to go with the M series and I am glad I did.
