Default Warn M8000 Winch

Anyone have one of these? I'm thinking about going this route. Anyone have any experience with this winch? Is it enough power? Its warn so I'm assuming its good quality. Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

Have it and love it. I put it on last November and have used it twice on the trail to get myself moving again, plenty of power and good line speed.

I have the M8000 on my CJ and JK. I almost put the Ramsey equivalent on the JK to save a little green until a friend pointed out the difference in the unloaded line speed. Under load they are about equal but empty (respooling after use) the Warn is almost twice as fast. The most serious test I've ever given either of my Warns was a few weeks ago when I anchored the JK to a tree and winched a buddy's Suburban out of sandy mud. The suburban was literally sitting on its frame. Had to winch him a good 30 yards before we got him back on semi-solid footing and the M8000 never went into thermal overload (probably wasn't far from it). You can't beat the M8000 for the money.

JD: Looks like you have your control box zip tied to the motor. There is a "L" bracket that mounts under one of the bolts that threads into the support rods. Cleaner look and much more secure.

Thanks for the responses. A few different shops have thrown out the idea of going with the new 10,000 pound smittybilt wench. Its only about 430 bucks but it doesn't come with a fairlead. Whats your thoughts on this? Go with 8000 pound warn or the 10000 pound smittybilt???

go with the Warn. I have this one and used it 2x in the last month. works great and good speed, plenty of power. I also replaced the cable with synthetic and it was a great upgrade.

The two Smittybilt winches work great. And they do come complete with fairlead rollers.
