Default Warn Winch w/ air Compressor

I have only been rock crawling with Jeep once while in motorhome in colorado last summer. We are planning on buying new Rubicon and have been shopping for bumper and winch.

Have read lots of post and I see very few owners with the Warn winch with air compressor. My questions is this: Don't you need to let air out of your tires while out playing around and then air them back up for the highway going home.

I noticed all the Rhino's and similar ATV's were going off and leaving us in the mountains over the rough terrain. I figured because the Jeep rode so rough over the road because we had so much air in the tires. so I came to the conclusion that I should get the air compressor with the winch.

What am I missing here. What is your solution.

Thanks for the help.

Yes you should air down off road and air back up for the highway. You still won't be able to keep up with the Rhinos and such, different style suspensions and designs.. Rhinos and other ATVs are much lighter and more based on dune buggy/motorcycle suspensions which are designed for speed. Jeeps are much heavier and the suspensions are not designed to react as quickly so you have to go slower.

As far as the Warn winch with air,, very sweet set up if you can afford it, but you can get a good winch and a separate air compressor for much less.

i'd love to g o with the powerplant, and i probably will. i just need to do some research to see which front bumper conceals it the best. aside from the price, the only drawback i see is its size. i want to find a bumper where it sits down inside and doesn't block the grille too much

Shrockworks stubby and mid both are designed to hold the Warn with air.

Mine sits just below the bottom of the headlights on my Badger Customs bumper. It is a big winch, I don't think you can get it much lower as the fairlead opening is between the frame rails. I love the performance with airing up the 37's, but when I had the stock 32's I was satisfied with just using a superflow compressor.

x2. I have the mid-width. The Shrockworks bumpers seem to keep the winch the lowest. Additionally, the skid plate that goes under to protect the sway bar motor doubles as a theft deterrant. That's several more bolts that a criminal needs to get through to get to the winch.

So true. Sorry about the crappy pix, but you can see there's still plenty of airflow to the radiator.

I really like my Powerplant!. It sits in a Shrockworks mid bumper with synthetic line. I havn't used it on my jeep yet but I've aired up others and used my winch for other pulling projects..
