Warranty
I have a 2010 Unlimited Sport. Would like to life it, bigger tires, lockers etc. I called my dealership to ask them what mods I can make and not kill my lifetime warranty. She said that any modification made can affect the warranty. So what can I really get away with on these warranties? Do they draw zig zag lines between mods and problems to get out of covering problems? Thanks
Mods can always effect the warranty. If the mod is credited for damage or wear they can claim that the modification caused the problem. A modification that does not effect the problem won't/shouldn't be a problem.
Someone needs to start a "what dealer will honor your warranty thread".
Hey WOL, you should see about getting some dealerships on the forum who are willing to work with people who modify there vehicles to cover legitimate problems without dismissing them as user fault due to mods.

im curious about what type of expensive issues could come up that might be denied warranty coverage. If it rarely happens and is a few hundred dollars at most I will not hesitate to do my lift etc. But if it could be something that costs thousands of dollars then that is something to think about more seriously for me...i didnt purchase any extended warranty tho just have the one that came with it

some dealers will simply point to mods and say they cased whatever the problem happens to be.
Anything that breaks or wears out BECAUSE of the mod won't be covered (unless the mod is covered, say the dealer installed a MOPAR lift, etc.)
But there are all kinds of stories of dealers blaming mods on entirely unrelated problems. They are supposed to prove the mod caused the failure, not just suggest it. But that can be a big battle.

"Get the Teraflex Leveling Kit, and run 33" tires with stock wheels, and some wheel spacers. It will look great, ride great, and you will have no worries. Here is a pic of mine when i had all of the above. No trackbars, extended shocks, or bumpstops. I had someone photoshop the stock wheels back on too. You can get the lift for $119 just call Joe at Teraflex. "
so that got me thinking about considering that option in order to preserve warranty and eliminate DW
