Default Warranty..

Ok so I know I can use the search feature and theres hundreds of threads about warranty but I am on my phone and for some reason cant get that to work. So my question is whats the deal with the warranty and lift? Is it a per dealer isssue or is there a lift limit with the warranty? I have a '12 with the 100k warranty and I would like to lift it a little bit but I dont want any issues with the warranty.

It's dealer specific. Ask where you bought it and see what they say. Any modification you do can void a warranty it's just up to the dealer.

It also depends on whether the warranty you're trying to use is over something you've modded. I know a lot of people that have had to pay out of pocket because they tried to get the dealerships to fix something, and they said no because of one part they changed. Like if you do a gear swap, it will probably void your whole 100k mile warranty.

Some dealers have lift kit offers they will give you if you get it from them and they install it, and your warranty will still be good, but they'll charge you out the ass for install...

Default warrantee

I just went to my dealer , and they told my it is not up to the dealer anymore , they have to take pics. and send them to Chrysler and they would determine if it jeeps fault , or user fault . I have a lifetime warrantee on the drivetrain with a bent front axle. If It had been stock , they would have replaced the axle for free. b ut with a 6" long arm and 35s , they said if they send in the pics. of my jeep , jeep could drop my lifetime warrantee on all drivetrain parts! Great , huh? by the way I bought my jeep new from the dealer with dealer installed 35s and a 4 " lift , they never told my my warrantee was already void. Nice huh?

I would fight them on that. show them the papers of when you bought it and say they sold it to you with those mods on it....that's what the warranty should cover.
That's bs! That makes me mad!! i would tell that dealer off

Yeah, you should definitely fight that BS. If its dealer installed prior to 1st purchase, it's covered (or should be).

Dealers would like this to be true. The federal government says otherwise.

This question comes up on every auto/motorcycle forum that has ever existed when it comes to warranties and vehicle modifications and has plenty of times on this forum. It is especially applicable to JKs/Wranglers because they are so frequently modded. The fact of the matter is this: The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act 15 U.S.C. 2302(C) requires that if you are turned down for warranty work due to a mod you have done; then the dealer (or whomever) must be able to prove that the mod caused the failure.
If not they are liable to honor the warranty.

You may have to fight them a bit. But really you just need to cite Magnuson Moss and ask them to tell you in what way your mods have voided the warranty. Otherwise, no matter what the dealership, they have no legal ground to stand on.

Default warrantee

Thanks for the good info. Fact is I have moved away from the area in which the jeep was bought. I was in Cali. , and now i'm in Nevada . I also bought the 2008 jkur in 2007 , so it has been awhile. Im have also put on a Pro Comp 6" long arm on it with Fox remote ressy's and have wheeled the snot out of it . I have a feeling if they see what the undercarriage looks like , they still would not honor the warrantee. I will just eat it , and I'll end up gettind a Dynatrac housing and reinstall my internals.Besides I would not be surprised if they said that the mods. that were done did not cause the problem , It's how hard I have been on it. I like rocks , alot!
