I spoke with a parts manager in Arizona and he said that they install lifts and big tires all the time and it doesn't mess with the warranty. He said that it comes down to the manager thinking that you abused the vehicle. If it seems the problem came from abuse, its not covered. If that makes since, but he said a lift and tires wont hurt it.

There were other situations like, obviously the lift would void the suspension warranty because its in a pile in the corner of my garage and stuff like that.

I think its worth the risk and extra work on my part to keep this Jeep running for a long long time. Plus the better care I take of my Jeep the less I will even need the warranty, but its nice to have.

Answers to this are always all over the map. You have to decide what is best for you. There are dealers that will just fix it under warrenty, and others that will deny everything saying it was abused. Nobody on these boards can give you a gaurentee that it won't be voided. You are taking the chance and you need to decide.

Is it worth it to you to spend a lot of time to get something covered?

Do you want to drive (or have your rig towed) to multiple dealers in hope of finding one that will warrenty your mods?

Do you understand that bigger tires can cause more stress on axles and driveline components?

Do you understand what a lift does to driveline geometry?

A lift and tires could loose your warrenty all the way from the rubber to the transfer case. Anybody that that has a half a clue could prove the ill effects to the driveline that a lift and tires could have (look at the 2 doors with the grenading dive shafts, one of these going could take the transfercase out and could all be denied since the shafts weren't designed for that geometry).

Not saying all doom and gloom, but you need to think about this going into it and make YOUR decision that YOU will have to live with.

Yeah, my husband flipped when he found out ... my opnion. You know its a jeep. they're built to take offroad, and I want to enjoy mine, not drive by everyrule in the "rule book" to make sure I don't void my warranty ... I what I did does void it .... I woould like them to prove that it voided it .....

like .. I took my jeep wheeling , went through some water .. that hit the bottome of my front bumper .. and my horn went out!!!?!?!?!?! WTF? I mean ... okay .... what? Would that be included in the warranty? I mean I knida need it to drive with ... lol!? And EVERYTHIN was still stock!

As with everything else ..

I got the 4.5" LA kit by RE and 35x12.50s baja radial claws by MT. And replaced the driveshafts and my slip yoke case in the front ...

DID nothign to my gearing or axles ... YET!

DO I call my dealership and ask them what will be voided, and that they have to prove the mods I did ..... made it 'break!?

Been there, done that, worked with lawyers who do the case law, etc.

THEY have to prove that the covered part failed due to the mod.

There is NO mod that "Voids the warranty". The warranty is ALWAYS in effect as stated in your contract.

If its a case where the dealership insists that your new radio voided the truck's warranty, and therefore your blown diff is NOT covered (A REAL CASE)...and you shuffle off, they win, game over.

Respond that you know the law, and that they want to keep their 5 star status, right?

Guess what - they get paid to fix your shit by the manufacturer, its pretty much never done for free, either you pay, or jeep pays, etc.

Most of them will be reasonable to keep loyal customers...some even INSTALL the mods for you as a side business, etc.

So, if you do a mod, and have a failure that was caused by the mod, even though we're in the USA, take responsibility for it, and suck it up like a man (Or woMAN)...

IE: 44" Boggers on a otherwise stock drivetrain, and you blow a diff...suck it up, you broke the diff....if they cover it, its a favor.

35's on a D44 = a reasonable expectation.

My approach is to figure I can wheel a new, reliable rig, with at least the possibility that if something breaks, it might be covered...or....wheel an older, less reliable rig, with NO CHANCE that anything might be covered.

Personally, I've never had a problem....I had to catch a plane immediately after my TJ's radiator blew up at Paragon...and I had limped the jeep to the dealer, and dropped it off with a note about the radiator.

It was caked with about an inch of mud, a torn up spare with a blown bead was hanging off its rim, the interior was full of water and mud sloshing around, in short, it came in in rough shape for an emergency radiator transplant.

They covered the transplant under warranty, detailed the jeep, reset the blown bead, and didn't charge me a dime.

Pick your poison.
