Default Water proofing

Ok so heres my problem my parents are always getting on my case about not haveing the hard top on when it rains (btw im a highschool senior) anyways its hard for me to keep takeing the top on and off so ive been looking for suggestions on how to make the jeeps interior more water resistant rather then haveing to keep putting the hard top on everytime it might rain. I have alread looked into a soft top but the parentals shut that down they seem to think its not safe enough so are there any other reasonable options?

Incase this helps i have a 2dr 2011 sport

Thanks in advance
Sam

I don't understand their thinking that a soft top is any less safe than riding around with no top.

Have you tried never wet. I know it works on work shoes etc. comes in a spray can at Home Depot.

Im not sure as to what they are thinking either but i was fortuneate enough for them to even agree to letting me get the jeep in the first place so im not going to agrue with them.

If you haven't already ditch the carpets for bed liner (DIY or have a shop spray one in, I went with line-x). If need be roll with the painted floor boards while saving up for it. Then get a good set of seat covers. There are many out there and everyone has their opinion on the best. I went with marathon seat covers. If you'd like to know more about them there are several threads hear discussing the pros and cons of the options available so a quick search should yield you some reading material (same goes with the bed liners). Last pull the plugs so it will drain.

Never Wet is an aerosol made by Rustoleum and it's basically water proof spray paint except it's clear on most things. I used it on top of my bed-lined tub and the water just beads up and rolls around until it goes through the drain holes in the floor. Pretty awesome stuff but I wouldn't recommend it on glass or electronic screens (however there is a YouTube video of someone spraying their entire iPhone with the stuff).

Back to water-proofing, check out Dashboard Condom (funny but a pretty cool idea). It's basically a stretchy piece of plastic with hooks that covers up the center of the dash and keeps rain off of the radio, navigation unit, center vents, stock auxiliary buttons, and window buttons.

Or you could just get one of those emergency tops from Rampage or whatever for around $50 that comes with it's own storage bag.

Never wet doesnt last long enough. I Did my rims and it started wearing off after the first wash. Was pretty sweet to just roll out of a mud pit and have them cone out perfectly clean though

Stay muddy my friends

how does one stay muddy if the rims roll out of the mud clean?! and yes, it would seem annoying that it wears off after the first wash, perhaps it soaks into seats better then rims though?

op: consider leaving the top on and only taking it off to drive around on nice days? with a nice hard top hoist (diy or bought for 200 or less dollars) you can put it on and off in minutes.

Thanks for you help guys

I had originally thought about useing a hoist but our garage isnt tall enough for me to do that i can hard fit the jeep in there as is. I never thought about bedlining the inside of the tub thats a good idea i will have to looking in to that. Does anyone know about monstaliner its a roll on bedliner? Does anyone have any experience with it? How does it hold up?

I don't have first hand with the product so I won't comment as mine would only be an opinion based on my research. I will say that with any product the prep work is the most important step, without it the liner will fail.

However a word of advise, if we start talking about specific products in your waterproofing thread it will derail the original topic. You may not receive many helpful answers to product specific questions because people will pass it over if they see your waterproofing question has been answered. If you have questions regarding a product(s) I would start a thread titled to reflect that topic. With that said do a forum search first to ensure there isn't some info out there that answers your question(s). I know there are several threads regarding bed liners both DIY and shop installed. Not trying to come off as a jerk just saving you from wasting yours/others time asking something previously covered.
