Default ? Water proofing certer console Help!

I run doorless and topless most of the year and have yet to find a way to make my center console water proof or more resistant.

I tried putting that gray door sealer foam between the lid and base, don't work.

Any ideas people?

Why didn't that work? Put it on the bottom and push shut. Maybe use a large make your own rubber washer. I know you can buy sheets for around $2-3.00. Just an idea.

Cause of how the latching system works, can't put the foam in front. Then the back of it rolls inwards so the water follows that path.

I've only managed to keep water out from each side.

So to combat the 3" of water in it this mornin, I said screw it and drilled a small hole in the bottom along with my cup holders, front and back.

Wasn't any wires directly under where I drilled.

Won't keep water out, but will keep it flowing through and not pooling.

Can you sew? Take some water-proof material, cut 4 sides and top and sew together. Maybe take some woven non-roll elastic and attach to bottom so you can slip it over the console like a cover. Hey, just a thought.

That's a damn good thought. I've got some padding laying around, I'll make it an armrest cover. Now just need to find the "waterproof" material...

Could always get angled door seal and line the interior perimeter with it, will seal and not get in the way of the latch.

I've gotten in the habit of carrying some trash bags in the cubby in the back. If I get caught in a rain storm I slide them over the seats, center console, or whatever I need to keep rain out of. If I wanted a permenant solution I would suggest as rclark suggested. Make a glorified toaster cover out of neoprene and slide it over the top of the console.
