Default Water+winch=?

I dont have a winch but looking into them now. My jk is a dd and I take it out quite a bit. But is just trails and mud/water. If waters gets on the winch what would happen or if it is stuck underwater and I need to use it. Is there a solution for all of this?

Which brand is waterproof?
And are there any reviews or personal opinions on them?

They will all come 'sealed' to some extent, but if you plan on repeated submersion, look at the ones that claim to be waterproof.

My warn 9.5 has been hanging off the front of my 4x4's for the last 11+ years of rain, snow, trails, stream crossings, etc and is still running strong. But other than the occasional deep stream crossings, it has never spent any significant amount of time submerged.

Neoprene is not water proof. That is what wet suits are made out of and why they are called wet suits instead of dry suits. It will keep the dirt and grime out of the winch but not the water.
