Default Waterproofing your Clutch/Transmision

I have an 09 unlimited with the 6spd manual, and i've heard that if the trans is underwater then you can't depress the clutch to change gears because the water will ruin the clutch and you will have to replace it. If so how would one go about in waterproofing the clutch and transmission?? Would this be a good idea??

Any help and knowledge on the subject is appreciated. I wanna get wet, but don't want to have to buy a new clutch if I have to change gears in the water/mud.

Thanks

I don't think it is being underwater that really causes the issue it is the nasty stuff in the water. But I could be totally wrong about that. I always go slow through water and if you need to shift your tranny then you really need to just slow down. Just my opinion. I live in fear of holes that are too deep and hydrolocking engines. I creep through water with my hand on my key. lol

i have noticed that the JK tranny is fully Syncronized cause if i get readu to shift i can go from 3rd to 4th the when i am ready go from 4th to 5th and so on with out using the clutch. i mean if needed you could jam it into gear. OR kill it in gear shift to higher or lower then start the engine with out depressing the clutch.

You have to depress the clutch to start the engine

That's so you can start your way out of trouble in case your engine fails.

I'm really looking for a better solution then 4lo. I want to be able to romp through water lol and not have to worry about it.

Does anyone know anything about waterproofing a clutch? I Don't know where the vents are but i feel like you could just seal them up somehow and you would be good?
