Welding EVO front CA arm skids advice
Going to be welding my EVO front CA skids on with my hobart 187. All the welding I have done, is non-auto, im self taught. Any advice, tips/tricks, to installing these.
This is a great DIY welding job.
Tips...
Find some steel material similar in thickness to the EVO Brackets (3/16) and run a few welds on it. This will get you more comfortable with the material and welder and allow you to do some fine tuning of the machine if needed.

Here are some more specific steps to follow...
1. Elevate front of vehicle securely on jackstands.
2. Remove control arm on driver side from axle, leave control arm attached to frame side mount. Do not remove both driver and passenger side lower control arms at the same time.
3. Clean all paint in the areas to be welded on the factory bracket and axle tube and place 10022 on driver factory axle bracket
4. Weld EVO Skid on all edges that the EVO Skid touchs the factory control arm bracket and/or the axle tube
5. Let cool, then paint all exposed metal
6. Reinstall control arm, torque to factory specifications
7. Repeat steps 2-6 on passenger side with 10023 bracket
8. If wheels where removed from vehicle, Reinstall wheels and torque all nuts to factory specifications
Retorque all bolts/nuts after first 500 miles.
