Default What is it for?

Anyone else wonder what the bar is for? The one behind/below the bumper dropped about 3" below the frame, that the air dam plastic rivits to?

Anyone cut it off yet? I just think it looks stupid. It does not appear to be strong enough for structural purposes? I am getting anxious to torch it off...

A few years ago, the Federal Government pushed makers of SUVs to lower their stance so they wouldn't ride up over a regular car during a crash. Some lowered their vehicle (Trailblazer aka Trailgrader) and some put a catch bumber (Silverado). This appears to be a catch bumper on the JK. It also provides some protection for the stock sway bar disconnect unit....

Cut the bar off? Or keep it? Anyone else cut theirs off?

Seeing as I already ditched the goofy plastic air dam...

i kept it how it was, no reason to cut it off. The PJ bumper covers it nicely
