Default What about 33's

Those with 33's(295's or 305's), what is power loss over stock? I guess mainly, does it down shift on flat hwy, slight breeze, etc. I can not decide between stock gears and a 295 or 305, or go with a regear and 35's.

I would like to regear and 35's now! But, could use the gear money to buy bumpers now and regear and 35's a few years down the road. Just wondering how it preforms with 295 or 305?

Pics would be helpful!

I'm running 33's with the 3.73 gears and I've seen no noticeable loss of power or fuel mileage since I put them on. I actually plan on staying with 33's. I like the look of the 33's with my lift and I've got lots of room for flexing, besides going to a 35" tire is only going to give me another inch of ground clearance anyway. Hardly worth it cost wise for the tires and gears IMO.

Your SIG says you have a 3.5" lift. Can you please post a side pic of your JK. Curious on how the 33s are with that much lift...Thanks...

Here's a 305/70/16 with a 2.5 coil lift with a 1"coil spacer.

Very slight power loss to me not enough to piss me off but enough to keep me from goin 35s...i say if your thinking 35s. Dont waste your money on 33s youll hate em and end up costing yourself more money in the long run. You only live once get what you want the first time

Flip flopping between the sizes as well. I have 32s but a bit more clearance would be great. If I go 35, I'll go with DuraTracs or KM2s to keep the tires lighter and not have to regear. If 33s, I'll probably go with the Nittos or Toyo beasts for off-road durability.

Ive got 33 General mud tires. I reprogramed with a superchip, and still feel like i lost a little power. On a flat highway im fine and can maintain a constant speed, but if there is ANY incline my jeep will downshift. This hurts the mpg a bit. Ive got 3.5 inch lift and wind is annoying. If you are going into a good bit of wind it will also downshift.
Got 3.21s i think...

I agree. I have 3.73's and an automatic. I can't imagine how bad 35's would be with the stock 3.73 gears.

Which engine are we talking about here? I have the 3.8 with 33's and 5.13's. Still isn't amazing, but it is worlds better than the stock 3.73's. I used to turn O/D off just driving around town when it had the stock gears because it would downshift all the time.

Default 33's

I agree with JnT & Wandell. I have a automatic with 3.73 gears and 33" tires and RK 2.5 Max Travel lift. If in the future, I go with 35" tires probably would regear. For now I like the 33's.
