Default What Battery?

What is a good battery and how many Cold Cranking Amperes do i need to operate a

Warn m8000 winch, and Piaa Fog Lights.

Optima yellow or red top will do the job, be sure and put winch on top terminals. I burnt one up on side I found that out the hard way.

will it short out the battery or burn the winch motor if its connected wrong?

Look at Odyssey batteries. I like them better than Optima. If you want to save a few bucks, look at the Sears Platinum battery - same as the Odyssey except with the Sears name.

Excide also makes the Orbital battery which is the same design as the Optima, but for a much lower price. And ina winch test there wasnt much difference between them.

ya both optima and orbital seem to be pretty decent. i checked out the test they ran on the orbital on rockcrawler.com.

those who have the dual battery, do your winches work better in any way.
it sounds like a stupid question but i assume dual battery gives less drainage on battery power than a single battery.
