Default What to do first?

I am wanted to do something to my Jeep! Would like to start out with a good base to add mods later and I am stuck. A nice sounding, easy flow exhaust is on my mind but I do not know if the ECU will be self tuning to allow the mod to be beneficial which leads me to my second idea. A SuperChip Flashpack. Is this a better starting point? Would it be worthwhile to add to a stock Jeep? A lift and tires will be shortly after but I would like to wake up the tired 3.8. Fortunately I have the stock 4.10's in my 07 Sahara. So what do you guys think?

If you plan on wheeling it.....I think your first mod should be tires (unless you are running the Rubicon rubber).....without any bite, it doesnt matter what you have....you will struggle

I agree with Dirtman. Figure out the tire size you want to run and go from there..AND I agree to run 35's if you cant decide. Putting exahaust/chips/intakes, etc. on this engine is like putting perfume on a pig. I run an AEV snorkel, NO muffler at all, a K&N drop and a viper throttle body. Even with all that I'd say the engine is a little more responsive, mabe, and thats about it...Get a budget boost, like the one from teraflex, get some 35's with some cheap wheels and go have fun with it, then you can decide what you really want from there

tire size in a JK is the first to think about and plan accordingly....i have driven a JK with all perfomance upgrades and i couldnt tell a real diference... tire size, lift, gears are the most important thinks and the ones you have to think about and spend your money at. Just my point of view

I appreciate all the replies, they were helpful but unfortunately all I heard was what I was afraid of. After spending 2 weeks of only reading on the JK and all it has to offer it seems the 3.8 is just a sluggish power plant.

I do plan on doing some light to moderate wheeling in the future but for now it is purely a DD. The budget boost seems like my best bet at this stage. I have the Sahara with 4.10s and 18 inch wheels. Any advice as to the size tires I can wrap on them? I know everyone says 33" or 35" but I am speaking in tire size dimensions that I could search on a store site to check pricing...or is a new wheel a must for those size tires? Also, is a different sized track bar or steering stabilizer a recommended addition with the budget boost? I did not hear it much but I did notice 1 or 2 people mentioning it gets a little squirrely without the stabilizer.
