Default What do I need to cut...

2009 JK Unlimited Rubicon. Went with silver AEV Pintlers (17") and the Toyo Open Country II 35's. Also went with a 2.5" AEV lift.

Here's the problem: When turning hard right or left, the wheel rubs the plastic underbody that covers under the front bumper. In addition, when I hit a speed bump and the rear end bounces, I hear some major rubbing or noise or something.

Any thoughts - I'm a newbie...

Thanks!

Trey

Trim or remove the air dam up front. The rears are probably hitting the rubicon rock sliders which also need to be trimmed.

You may also need to trim the pinch seam in the rear.

As stated, trim or remove air dam. For the rear, your issues may be the bump stops. Have you put longer ones on to compensate for the lift? You can trim the rails and pinch seam...

I have the AEV 2.5 with 35s. With the extended bump stops in the rear both tires would lightly rub the Rubicon slider and make a lot of noise.

Trey,

My '09 rubbed in the rear factory flares when I had a leveling kit that raised the front 2" and the rear 1". This was with 33" tires. It would really only do it when loaded down and hitting a bump in the road. It was not rubbing the rock rail but the flares themselves in the rear. I'd imagine this is your problem.

My setup with 33s is quite the same as yours with 2.5" of lift and bumpstops, yet running a 35" tire. 35 is pretty big on 2.5" of lift of you don't trim anything or increase the bumpstops.

Sent from some string and a few tin cans.

The AEV 2.5 is bump stopped for 35s. I have the same lift with 35s and at flex it doesn't rub the flares. Before I trimmed the Rubicon slider there was a huge dip in the road that would cause the tire and slider to make light contact.

You can't really compare a leveling kit with 33s to a spring lifted suspension thats correctly bump stopped with 35s. A simple leveling kit won't keep tires out of the flares on stock bump stops.
