Default what to do with my cut inner shifter boot?

I just installed the RC 1.25" BL on my JK with the shifter adapter. the adapter and boot were bunching so bad that I had to pretty much slit the boot from elbow to arsehole to keep it from popping out of the bottom four gears. for those of you who have cut the boot, how have you sealed it back up?

Have you considered having on made at a leather shop? I can recommend one here in town if you decide to go that way.

I'll keep that in mind, but I'm guessing it'd be expensive?

I'm puzzled about why pulling your boot off may be necessary to say if it's expensive to have a leather boot made. But, regardless, I can tell you about pulling the shifter boot off since I just broke mine doing it incorrectly: It's made of three pieces: A plastic top bezel, the rubber boot, and a bottom support plate. They are sandwiched together. The top plate has plastic studs that poke through mating holes in the bottom support plate and are flared out to hold everything in place. Of course, the rubber boot is in the middle. If you do like I did and apply pressure to the top plate, it's possible to pull it out and damage/break those plastic studs. So, you need to pull up against the entire three-piece assembly. It is held into the center console by two expandable prongs at the rear of the assembly. At the front is a right angle prong that cannot be pulled straight up. So, use something thin to pry up the rear of the assembly, freeing the two prongs from the center console. Then pull back on the assembly to clear the front prong and once clear lift it up over the shifter.

BTW: Pull the shifter straight up to remove it. I found it necessary to straddle the console to get enough pull the first time. The second time I took a piece of strong tape (packing tape) and wrapped it around the shifter just below the knob to protect the paint. I then used an adjustable wrench slightly larger than the shaft, and a very large hammer (32 oz) to gently pound up on the bottom of the shifter knob. It came right off much more easily than the straddling method.

Finally, if you do break your boot assembly, the thick kind of super glue does hold the plastic and rubber together. Well, at least it has for one day now. LOL.

if your top bezel is broken you can do this to fix it. Bolts etc are available at any home depot. remember to keep them short no alot of room underneath there and don't tighten them too much or it will crack the cheap bezel.

and to fix the inner boot I am going to use a tire tube and tire patch glue, just been waiting for it to warm up so I don't destroy the bezel taking it off again. cheap chrysler plastic !
