What to do?... New Jeeper.
Hi all,
I have been lurking here for a few days now. I am a new 2011 JK Unlimited owner. I recently purchased a Sport with the 24S package(17" wheels, Hard Top, LDS, Automatic 4 speed.) with a trailer tow and Freedom Hard Top.
I placed my first modification order with Northridge4x4 for some JKS Sway Bar Quicker Disconnects.
Now for the "What to do?" part. I have been reading on the Automatic 4 speeds overheating. I am considering a gauge of some sort and a coil. I really like the ability to use the OBD-II port for the gauge, so my first question is:
1. Is everyone just going with AeroForce or is the ScanGuage any good?
2. Does anyone use a phone(android or Iphone) and a Bluetooth OBD-II to check readings from the ECM?
And last.
3. Is the Summit racing coil just a no brainier, works great, way to go?
I only have 500 miles on the Jeep, but I drive about 40 miles round trip to work five days a week. Being that I live in DFW Texas, and the heat is crazy hot this year, I am a bit concerned. I know this was an issue primarily while wheeling in 4WD. I guess I won't be wheeling without modifying the Jeep to correct this issue either way.
Great forum and thanks for any and all advice.

If you are worried about over-heating, install a tranny cooler. A gauge is good at telling you that it's about to melt, but a cooler will keep you from getting to that point. Or better yet, do both...
