Default What to expect?

So I am very excited to be doing my wheel/tire package soon!

I am going with the 17" Vtech Raptors in Matte Black and BFG 285's. I was told I can get this package without a lift, but will be doing a small lift at some point down the road (1-2.5 lift or so)

The one thing I would like to know is, what to expect from this change?

Power loss?
MPG loss?
Noise?
(I'm actullay looking forward to the hum of the tires and already deal with a soft top, so who cares!)

Anything I missed?

Thanks and will be posting pics once they are installed!

i'm runnin 285's. never really pay to much attention to MPG, probably because it will make me cry. did notice very slight power loss but the traction gain was well worth it and i havn't had a flat yet, compared to the once a month with the stock tires. I only changed tires and was now making climbs i couldn't before. first had BFG A/T then got some BFG M/T and wow what a difference again. what felt like a big power loss at first turned out to be the tires actually diggin in instead of the A/T's spinning away. now it really doesn't like to get stuck, unless high centered. they do rub at full turn just a bit and only on the sway bar, doesn't rub on any sharp edges. hope this helps

You really aren't changing anything that drastically. So you shouldn't expect any big changes! What size are 285? its like 11.5 inches wide i think. How Tall? thats where you'd see some power loss. Also, are you getting a A/T or an M/T? that could contribute to power loss also. Give Us all, a little more information on what your going to run, and maybe we can help answer your questions!
oh and try to use figures like 35X12.5R17 instead of 285X70R17. stick to standard inches so we can visualize what you runnin!

dont mean to sound like an ass, just tryin to understand and help!!!

Perfect, just what I was looking to hear! I am not super worried about MPG and kind of figured it would go down some. Hell, I wouldn't drive Jeep if that was a high concern eh!

So you are running with no lift now too?

There is a very easy calc to determine the exact measurments for a tire size spec'd in the format 285/70/R17 and makes perfect sense to most of us I would imagine. I'm about to buy a set of 315/70/17 good years....figure that out!

Or try doing a little research yourself:
